Mestiza - San Luis Obispo

The tortilla chips and the chicharron with the red salsa was Delicious! Taste like homemade, really!

Great atmosphere for groups or dinner for 2. The bar is separated from the dining area and ensures good noise distribution. There are also outdoor seats with heating. The food was really good and very well prepared. Servers are friendly, fast and excellent to make a good experience. I had Carne Asada Tacos who were so good! Margarita was also great.

Good tacos and accompanying drinks. I had a desperado cocktail and both Carnitas and Carne Asada Tacos. They are somewhat larger than street tacos, but make a full meal when paired with an appetizer. The venue is a modest Mexican theme and relaxing higher animal Cantina. There is a decent cocktail menu with a beer selection. It is a beautiful place to stop a bit and entertain between local outings.

It shouldn't be the $1 street taco place. They are amazing in their own right. However, this is a 'fancier' version of the Mexican food you know and love. It remains traditional with some fantastic guacamole, homemade tortillas, ancho/guajillo salsa roja, etc. But everything is done on an exceptionally high level. The Expect House has done everything, including plastered spicy veggies with your chips and salsa (a beautiful note for authenticity). Prices reflect the high degree of execution, but I feel they are fair. The Mezcal cocktail I had was great, so I'll just order their drinks blindly in the future (near eyes, point, understood). Regarding the service, it was reflecting for the stylish furnishings: excellent. I felt out of place when I wore my fitness clothes, so make sure you're dressed for date night.

Best food in town! Love enchiladas, drinks and desserts. It is a must to stop when you are in SLO.
