This caffe was a good choice when they were looking for north and on the look for a not to send, well made breakfast plate. mostly American style, but also breakfast burritos.
If they are looking for good ol' comfort, or, wish that there is a deli near, or, have a yen for a latte - that is the point to go. directly above the road from the main entrance to the mountain side of the...El dorado ranch, it offers simple, safe parking. this Mexican family operated (with gringo back-up) restaurant and deli offers cheap American breakfast, lunch and deli selections. the service is excellent and the waiting staff is ready with a smile and a quick sweat. for those who have not yet mastered Spanish, their English is wonderful. it is the spot for many in the opposite. Monday are truthahn and gravy day and Friday is fish and chips. buen provecho! you will not regret it. while in the opposite, make her laundry, get her car washed, or forget her hairstyle. these services are in the same facility.
During the peak season in San Felipe the parking lot is full. Portions are not HUGE but very adequate and tasty. No where else in San Felipe, that I know of, do they cater to the taste of Americans any better. From the Mon spec turkey sand, to the Wed corn beef hash, this is the place to go.
After eating breakfast at Road Runner a few months ago I wanted to write a review of the restaurant on TA. I was surprised to see that Road Runner wasn't listed, so I submitted a request to list it, and glad to see that it has finally been added to San Felipe, Baja CA Mexico restaurants.A few years ago, one of the servers had a chance to buy the Road Runner from her former boss, and has turned it into a true family business. Most of the servers are sisters, other family members work in the kitchen, and even their father works there. Since they have a vested interest in making sure the restaurant succeeds, both the food and the service are exceptional. The staff is always pleasant and friendly and will do anything they can to accommodate any request you have, weather it's for seating or the way you want your food prepared. They are open for breakfast and lunch and serve American style breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. On Sundays the special is Eggs Benedict and large groups of friends, families, and people stopping for breakfast after church services, make it a very busy place. But the servers will set up tables for 20 or more if necessary, and still make sure that everyone finds a table as soon as possible. There are a lot of American and Canadian "snowbirds" who spend the winter in the area, and sometimes nothing sounds better than bacon, eggs and hash browns in the morning. I eat there once or twice a month and have never had a bad meal there. The eggs Benedict is among the best I've had anywhere, and I've eaten them in a lot of places. There is also a deli with fresh vegetables, cheese, lunch meat, and home made salads, a small store with few staples and frozen food, and fresh pastry to either eat there or take out, on the premises. For good American style food with friendly service in San Felipe, Road Runner is the best.
