Found this place on Yelp Was looking for a good date night spot Drove down It's in the heart of university of San Marcos Pretty quiet and laid back area Perfect for some quality time Walked in was greeted by some friendly staff Didn't have sushi bar as a seating option got a booth Their Sapporo was on draft and excellent We ordered the sushi muffins Ninja roll Tuna Cajun roll Ramen Miso soup And a nother roll The food IS OUR OF THIS WORLD we are every single bite The ambiance was inviting and comfortable The attentiveness of the staff was excellent I would 100% make the drive here time and time again Literally the best damn sushi I have had in YEARS! DO NOT SKIP ON THIS PLACE!!! And it's affordable as well We will def be back soon!

We stopped in to Umami Japanese after a Japanese friend recommended it. Wow! It was everything I could have hoped for! The rolls were delicious with fresh ingredients and huge! The Salmon was unbelievably moist and tender. The gyozas were perfectly cooked and left me craving more! And the service was attentive without being intrusive. I'm a bit of a sushi snob but I can't say enough about the delicious experience my hubby and I had here. And what a beautiful venue! On the entire wall was a 4 K video playing of Japan which made you feel like you were actually walking there! A great date night place but also family friendly. And there's outdoor seating on these warm nights. And don't forget to bring your furry friend.

Recently tried Umami Sushi. The service and ambiance of the restaurant were great! The Piggy Bao Buns were amazing! I was excited to try the Sushi Muffin (as this dish is an award winning dish). Was not impressed with the Sushi Muffin, very small for the price (way smaller than pictured) and not as fresh. Will try something else next time!
