Not only the environment is so pleasant, but the workout itself is very exciting. after a month of bar method I can't imagine a week without them. the bar method has changed the way and wise how I train for the better!
I've completed 10 classes and am very glad I've begun. This is a fabulous, leg/core/arm intensive work out with attentive and exceptionally qualified instructors who correct form and are encourage everyone. Very accommodating front desk and nice locker room/shower area. I find the floor interesting in that it is a thick carpet. San Mateo location is so very popular that you need to reserve in advance or miss out.
The Bar Method San Mateo is my workout home! I've been attending class regularly at this studio for 7 years. No other workout that I've tried (from weight training to running, yoga to cycling) has EVER made a dent in my body. Now I'm 2 clothing sizes smaller and stronger than I've ever been. And, I've got a booty! If you want to change your body and break your fitness plateau, this is the place for you!
June 2019 Update It's been 1.5 years at Bar Method It's been a terrific journey.... the classes are improving to make it better for us to grasp and effectively perform the positions/exercises. I really appreciate how the routines are refined Careful thought goes into the program The variety and teachers keep the program fun and interesting with great attention to each participant. New classes and more classes were added. The schedule is the best to accommodate everyone's schedule.... morning, noon or evening and weekends.... you can always find a class! Other reasons to come: The staff is very friendly and helpful. A superb reservation system The facilities, classes and staff do everything to make it a fun and comfortable experience. Parking is so easy. You'll feel great! 2018: I have been attending classes at San Mateo Bar Method for about 6 7 months now. The teachers and staff are first rate and take a personal approach to maximize the experience for each student. They help students with gentle corrections and explanations during the class. The upbeat music is motivational and keeps you going. Each person can focus on challenging moves if they’re ready. It’s not high pressure but very encouraging. It's great that each class varies so it's not totally repetitive. I started with 2 3 classes a week and now I'm attending about 4 classes a week and it feels great. I'm still learning to refine each pose by getting the right positioning, posture and alignment with the help of patient teachers. : I usually take the noon express and standard one hour classes and the cardio workout is just right with room to push further. When I first started, it was all new to me I had a hard time with my pushups but I’m getting better. My previous program was hot bikram but the heat was difficult to endure. i'm still working on the abdomen curls and lifts which take more effort from me. BAR Method exercises focus on core strength abdomen, all leg muscles and arm muscles . It's very comprehensive. There's always plenty of convenient parking at the San Mateo location and the reservation process is perfect to ensure good class sizes. The monthly unlimited membership is just right for me I go on extended vacations occasionally and they allow a one month suspension. I would highly recommend Bar Method! Give it a try!
I have been going to Bar Method in San Mateo for about a month now. The studio is really nice with nice locker rooms, bathrooms, and showers too (very important). What has stood out to me the most over the last month is the instructors. Being totally new to barre, i was pretty clueless for a while. They are all so encouraging and helpful, they are the reason that my experience has been great so far.
