Cafe del Sol - San Miguel de Allende

Although I have walked by it many times, a friend invited me to meet her at Cafe del Sol today and I was not disappointed. It has a cozy ambience, friendly service, and decent, simple fare. I had one of the green juices and a breakfast dish. It was the perfect place to have our meeting. Ambience is important to me and I would definitely visit there again. Not sure of the regular hours, but down side is that it closed by 2pm on a Saturday.

This is not a new place but it is 'new' to me but I have been since 3 times. Excellent Cappuccino, great prices, nice service, good food, many choices, free WiFi, what more does one want?

Mi familia y yo vamos cada semana a desayunar.The owner and his staff are very friendly and they always seek to pleased you, good variety of dishes in their menu. My family and I we go every week for breakfast.

I don't understand reviewers that rave on and on about a place and then rate it a 3 or a 4 because it isn't fine dining. This doesn't make sense at all! I want to be able to scan through the top 20 restaurants and find the best of every category. So, with that in mind, here are my observations. Breakfast: The food is the best part. I have been here for breakfast twice. The first time I ordered Huevos San Miguel, and the second time for Huevos Del Sol. Both plates tasted authentic and delicious. Both had plenty of sauce, which I happily sopped up with the bread from my bread basket. The chile sauce on the table was delicious. Coffee: Most restaurants of this category only have instant coffee. This place has an espresso machine, which in my mind is a big plus. The coffee, however was just ok, but still a great value. This is not a fancy coffee shop. Juice: my glass of freshly squeezed orange juice hit the spot. Price: cheap. My plate, two cups of coffee and fresh OJ was $98 pesos ($5.30US at today's exchange rate) Restaurant category: Diner (or Mexican equivalent). As such, they hit the mark. I will be back.

Tthis is one of our go-to -laces for breakfast. nothing fancy, but decent food and prices. We have been going here for years and know the menu inside out. It's nice to be in a familiar place and to know what you're going to get - very consistent and well priced.
