Donovan's - San Miguel de Allende

I visited the restaurant twice, both times for the best Azteca soup in San Miguel! $8.50 Cdn) It's rich, SPICY, delicious, a meal in itself. It really falls into the 'hole in the wall' category of restaurant as its main dining area is long...and narrow. The photos on the wall, from other dishes such as pizza and hamburgers look really interesting and maybe on another visit I will try one or another. The service is 'nice' by not seeming like trained waiting staff, but its pleasant approach is commendable. My understanding of Spanish is only marginally better than her English, but this is in me... I shouldn't expect them to speak a foreign language when I'm in their country. Good value!

Excellent food, I had the chilis, very good. They advertise their hot chocolate and churros. The hot chocolate is good. The Churros at Costco are better. These are dense and cold served. The service was very good, but we came between breakfast and lunch so there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. My mates enjoyed all their meals. So the food is good, just don't go specifically for hot chocolate and churros.

Yes, they have great Menudo soup. The broth was very tasty and the meat was tender, that is the only way to eat it). The servers cough and smile. I would give 5 stars, but the pizza was much different than I was used. I like a little sauce.
