Our group could not have been made to feel more welcome. If you are having a party, you would be wise to contact Jane and explore the function room and her buffet choices, she can easily cater for vegetarians, vegans and food intolerances. They open as a regular bar as well with good freshly cooked food options, they also have different entertainment and theme nights, it’s an idea to check them on social media for up to date information on their up and coming events
Went for Sunday lunch the food was bland and the Yorkshire puddings were burnt, the flies had to be brushed off our food constantly. The biggest issue however was that they don't take card payments, there was no mention of this on booking or when sitting down to eat, only when I went to pay, the nearest cashline is more than a mile away, fortunately I had my car with me but really inconvenient. What should have been a pleasant afternoon turned into a disaster. In my opinion you really shouldn't bother booking here to eat.
The staff here all seem to be incredibly miserable. When ordering, they seem very put out by new orders, even when not busy. It's very frustrating. The staff massively let captain morgans down. Poached eggs and salmon was dreadful too. Poached eggs way undercooked and snotty. Could be so much better.
The first time when captain morgan’s last night had won a menu for two. I was amazed by the comfortable beautifully decorated it area it makes a nice change not sitting on hard chairs. the young man who served us was very polite, friendly and helpful a credit to the place. the drinks were cheap and the menu was good. the appetizers of pate and garlic mushrooms were very nice tasting and a good part. the main course of homemade steak and ale cake was super, the baked tasty homemade and was a beautiful short crust, and the torte was packed with meat dumps (none of the usual air holes serve some places) the rest of the food was also very well cooked and we had to wait one because before the desert, how were quite full. Unfortunately, one of us could not manage a desert, but not give up the chance of a homemade crumb, I forced myself to try the apple crumb and cripple and it was not disappointing beautiful crumbs and well done. would definitely recommend this place to see the other diners and see their meal, it seems that the whole menu is worth a try. well made captain morgans the journey worth for us.
