El Chorlito - San Simeon

The restaurant offers a few vegan choices along with a variety of vegetarian options. Their salsa roja is absolutely fantastic! I also appreciated the note on the menu indicating that all sauces are meat-free, which is a question I often dread asking. I tried a cheese enchilada and a chile relleno, and I genuinely enjoyed both, even as a self-proclaimed food snob from San Francisco. On the day I visited, they had a dessert special—homemade lemon ice cream with raspberries. Unfortunately, it wasn't vegan, but it was really delicious.

This restaurant in San Simeon offers some vegan options, but be cautious with the guacamole, as it contains sour cream. I ordered the taco salad with tofu, and I was pleased with the generous amount of tofu it included. However, I would have preferred more beans in the dish. The restaurant itself is beautiful, featuring stunning views of the ocean. Updated from my previous review on May 13, 2021.

They offer the option to replace meat and cheese with tofu and/or fajita vegetables in any dish. All of their sauces are vegetarian, including a fantastic mole! I especially love the tofu enchilada with mole sauce and the tofu fajitas. The restaurant features a full bar and a beautiful patio with an ocean view. It's my favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere!

We got 2 tofu fajitas and the waiter asked us if we wanted rice without telling us that it was going to cost an additional 12$. Not very cool

On the day I visited, they had a homemade lemon ice cream for dessert that was heavenly—unfortunately not vegan, but it was very delicious.
