Our first choice was a Trabocco, but we decided otherwise when we called one and were told that the menu would be fixed for all adults at a price of 60€ per person... not really what I was expecting. While driving down to the Marina from San Vito Chietino we discover this nice place just in front of the sea and with a Trabocco next to it. The service is courteous and prompt and we are immediately seated and brought water and the menu which is intriguing and mouthwatering. We ask a few starters with some additions from the second courses to come as part of the starters. The kitchen works on the fly and prepares everything fresh: the fish started that come (all different are all exceptionally tasty, well presented and with great quality ingredients. The only exception are the mussels, which are rather tasteless and lack aromas. With such a great start we were out for a 5 stars fish eating experience... or so we thought. We had ordered main courses (pasta based after the starters and they regularly come after our appetizers. We all ordered different main courses with the only thing in common of having pasta (all different formats in them. At first taste, my main course is extremely salty (like salt with other ingredients... and as soon as I say it, all the others report the same for theirs. I immediately inform the waitress who apologizing goes to the kitchen and comes back stating that they ‘had issues with the pot’ (whatever this means and kindly offers to prepare them again. We were however on a tight time schedule and needed to leave so we had to decline. I and another person were not able to finish our main course so much salt was in them. The other guest bravely soldiered in and decided to eat all of it but he too complained about the salt. We ask for the bill and see that a 10% discount has been applied (about the price of one of the main courses . While I appreciate that they did this, I would have found it more appropriate that they hadn’t charged for the main courses at all (or at least for the 2 that were not eaten . The fact that they had ‘problems with the pan’ was recognized by them directly... but still they proceeded to serve something that was hardly edible, knowing about it, and surely for no fault of ours. Mistakes happen to everyone at any time, it’s how you react to them that makes the difference. Having prepared wrong dishes was the first mistake (it can happen , deciding to serve them knowing that they were wrong was the second (and this must NOT happen . A real pity. Ultimately, I am convinced that they have great fish ingredients and that they know how to cook them well (and know when they’re not . This is the reason of my disappointment.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. You can have very good, fresh sead food menu. The staff is friendly, but not fast and professional enough.
This is wonderful place right in the water. Had several nice dishes here. Octopus, mixed grilled fish and seafood pasta. All very good with a great view
