Fourteen wonderful days we stayed in the guesthouse at tennis Bella vista in levante. Five minutes drive to beaches, shops and restaurants of Cala millor, however, you could be forgiven for thinking you were miles away. The accomodation is set in the dappled shade of tall olive and pine trees, and surrounded by oleander, Bougainvillia, palms and prickly pear. We awoke every morning with coffee on the terrace, a view of the sea and the sound of birdsong. Fig, citrus and pomegranate trees also grow in the grounds and the owner kindly told us to help ourselves to the fruit; there's nothing like picking your own lemons for your gin and tonic sun-downer in the evening. The accomodation is large enough for a family of four or five easily. There are two bedrooms one with two single beds and one with three/four. There is air-conditioning and although no wi-fi in the guesthouse this can be accessed from the tennis club house. There are bath and kitchen towels and bed linen provided. The owners Mr and Mrs Pieper are lovely people and couldn't do enough for us. Don't come here if you want modern amenities, there are lots of hotels closer to the coast which cater for that type of holiday. The house is a bit tired in places but to us this was part of its charm. Think Mallorcan Mama Mia, quirky and interesting. The children loved the swimming pool which is open all the time, great to have a swim in the evening and we always had it to ourselves. In regards to the onsite restaurant they're in-between staff at the moment but there is a lovely Austrian guy helping out called Brent who served us drinks and made food. One day we had a crepe with warmed fresh figs and ice-cream which was delicious! On another day the children had hamburgers and French Fries by the pool which they loved, and another we had a type of citrus cake with fresh cream. I believe Brent may be coming back next season. This place would be perfect for yoga enthusiasts, hikers, bird watchers, cyclists artists and of course tennis players (6 clay tennis courts and people who want to get away from it all (but not too far away . Great places to visit, Consell flea market on a Sunday morning 35 mins drive for lots of interesting items, Peperoncino or La Brushetta in Son Servera for dinner or simply for a leche de almendra (best described as iced almond milkshake with a touch of cinammon or cold beer in one of the historic square's cafe's (the 25 mins walk to this village on the Via Verde is lovely; passing the Na Penyal nature reserve on one side and wonderful views of Cala millor and the coast on the other . Cala romantica beach or Cala Agulla beach both 10-15 mins drive are wonderful ...bring snorkels! The turquoise waters are abundant with fish. The Cuevas del Drach in Monte Cristo is stunning, especially the short classical music show at the end ...and of course Aqualand for the kids but be prepared for the queues. Things to eat Panades (individual shortcrust pastry pies with pork and peas Ensaimada (sweet swirled light pastry dusted with powdered sugar, plain or filled with chocolate or cream . And Coca's (similar to a pizza without cheese, with the addition of little chunks of red and green pepper, tomatoes and onion on a thin crust . Negatives: the mosquitos were irritating and the fact that we weren't here longer :
