Feedback gevenIt's been over a year since we stayed and we're ready to go back. Great hosts, good food and walk to 2 beaches. We fell in love with the Dominican Republic of Las Galeras.
Excellent pool and terrace, friendly and helpful staff, clean and airy rooms. Great location between Playa Grande and La Playita. Don't worry!
Love Love!!!! if you are looking for a great offer and a chili place by the sea with a pool a road from the hard / center of Las Galeras
Filthy place. Place has been left to rot and it’s even for sale in case some crazy guy pass by. First there is no sign that you can see from the street. Then parking si so small that cars have to park one after the other which means if you got to ask people to take their car off before going out with yours or on the contrary people will ask you to move your car out to be able to get out... we had to go walking to get breakfast because people were sleeping at 8:30 pm and our car was in the middle. Same for dining or to ride to the beach. Now these are just annoying, let me get to what is wrong. Place is dirty as hell, chaise longues are dirty and all tissues are torn out, pool is dirty with the electric light cables floating in the water, dead roaches floating and the only wait out (water is like 1,70m high so not children friendly) is a super rusted metal stair... also pool is small which is usually not a problem, small pool mean warm water), but it seems they can’t even clean a 6/8 meters long pool. Room. Well although the room is not dirty per say (no smell or strange stains), let say below the bed it’s scarier than if there were a monster, shower is rusted so that you check before showering if your vaccins are updated. Tv is not working except if you like to watch a blue line on black screen for hours. (We don’t). Fridge had more mold than a French blue cheese, that even made me forget the fact that the trays inside were broken and nicely fixed by a professional tape (same tape my kid uses at school). If you don’t mind being sick you could try and stock food inside (when we asked the only woman working on the whole hotel if she had a clean fridge to stock some food she told me we had one in the room, when I said I’d rather leave it outside bactéries would grow less she agreed and put it in her fridge althoug I didn’t see HER fridge, she never offered to clean our fridge and was ok with that). So there is a 2 meters high mirror in the room but don’t get too close or don’t bring any child because it’s only leaning against the wall with two small papers below to not kill just anybody with bad luck, it will only kill people crazy enough to touch it.. like children). Half the rooms have AC, our did work fine and hot water worked also, shower is “hand made” with cheapest materials but if you don’t care about not being able to choose where the water goes it’s more or less ok. Well I’ll almost stop there, employee was the worst, greeted me by some nice “have a reservation ? yes I can’t check that your computer is broken ? there ain’t no computer on your phone maybe ? Nah you have to wait the owner (who never came). On the morning We asked the price for the breakfast (Expedia say Breakfast with extra cost) she said she wouldn’t bother doing any because she’s alone working and that would take her too much time. We apologize and went out walking because of the aforementioned parking problem. Now all that would be almost like meh who cares, we have slept all over the world and sometimes there’s nothing more than a filthy hotel but problem is the hotel charges you 60/70 dollars. The worst we had in the country and we travel all the time in the DR.
In May 2011 I stayed here with my girlfriend for a few weeks for pleasure and work. The reception was rather absent, but the rooms were good and quite different from what you'd find elsewhere. Six of the rooms have a small garden that leads to the centrally located swimming pool. Most of the rooms also have a large terrace with a well-equipped outdoor kitchen area. Bernard, the owner of this small hotel, is very knowledgeable about the local Taino art and will be happy to tell you everything you want to know about the island, while enjoying a Pastis or Mama Juana at the hotel bar. I highly recommend this hotel for an enjoyable stay just minutes from downtown and at walking distance from the picture-perfect Playita beach.
