Two years ago my wife had a reunion of former college friends in LZM Resto, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. My two sons volunteered to drive and I tag along. We fetched a friend-classmate of my before we drove to Nuvali passing thru the fast skyways of the South Luzon Expressways. It was a saturday and took us a bit more than an hour only to reach LZM entering thru the Sta. Rosa exit. LZM-Nuvali is managed personally by Mr. Roland Anciro, an amiable guy with pleasing personality. He is also a former classmate of my wife. He hosted the event. It was a happy and great reunion of less than 20 former classmates with two nuns. They all belong to their school's catholic circle. The thing to experience is the Filipino menu which is exclusively served by LZM. The original recipe was done by the mother of Roland in their family home in Silang, Cavite where they also have their main LZM Resto. There is another in Tagaytay Mall. I remember the tasty Filipino cooking of my late mother when we ate at LZM like kare-kare, roasted squid with tasty fillings, crispy pata, etc. We bought and took home some of the food like their fried boneless bangus ( milkfish). Last sunday Oct. 9, 2016, my entire brood of four huge children and my wife returned to LZM Nuvali for lunch and ate our hearts away! Roland was there and Yoly, my wife, was more than happy to share memories of school and friends with him. Only thing is, if you go to LZM during weekends just have patience as the place is always full and you have to wait your turn. But you wont regret waiting. A best Filipino food Resto-LZM!
Our family weekends in Sta. Rosa are inevitably highlighted by a meal at LZM so we can enjoy our usual Bulalo and fried Bangus. They expanded to two dining rooms to accommodate the tourist crowds specially on weekends, though to be sure we reserve a table. The pinakbet, that medley of veggies , paired with chicharon bulaklak, are to die for.
This is one of the best restaurants to go to if you want authentic Filipino food with home-cooked touch. Me and my family always order their chicharon bulaklak, kare-kare, bulalo, daing na bangus, Filipino style Beef Steak and Eggplant Torta.Their service needs a little improvement though. Specially the crew. They should smile a bit more. Cheers! The food takes sometime to serve. But I understand because they will only cook it once you order it. Not like some Filipino restaurant where you just point out to the server the food you want and they will re-heat it at the microwave. And their price, compared with LZM, are just the same. With LZM, they have the same offering, but their serving sizes are bigger and the food is freshly cooked. You will feel at home with the ambiance. Nothing fancy. Simple tables and chairs. Ample air-conditioning. But the place is a bit small. It is not your fancy type Filipino restaurant. I give it a very good rating because the food is good and the serving is big and is priced just right.
Our family was surprisingly complete over the weekend and after Sunday mass we decided to eat in Nuvali. Craving for sulit na Filipino food, I pushed for lunch in LZM have been in this resto before and in their Tagaytay branch. Among the dishes we ordered were grilled ****, halabos na hipon and sizzling sisig. And DANG!!! Wahappenggg?? The grilled pussite was gummy to chew. 'Twar over boiled, obviously. LZM should get some tips from the cooks of Gerry 's Grill on this menu. The halabos na hipon was also a disappointment. Hindi malasa at bakit can kasamang gulay????? And the straw that broke back the camel was the sizzling sisig. The kids just told me when we left the LZM that it was her first time to eat Rohei. Why? How? There is no sizzle in the sisig, so that the egg 't cook when mixed with. Water under the bridge... I don't think I can have any more taste of their bang! Hu hu! Anything???
