Just returned from a 10 day stay at Roca Mar. It’s a lovely hotel and location in Canico. It’s ideal if you would like a quiet holiday. We found it a little too quiet at times but none the less still a beautiful place. They have entertainment every night. Mainly singers. The actual hotel is split into 3 different hotels so it looked a little different to what we expected. Staff were soo friendly, welcoming, helpful and extremely hardworking often working 7 days a week. The hotel offered amazing views across the Atlantic Ocean. It’s gets quite windy some days but still hot! So make sure to to take some sunbed pegs to hold your towel down. The hotel offers two outdoor pools and two indoor pools. We were half board whilst there. The breakfast was lovely but we struggled with the choice of evening meal food but that’s down to everyone’s preference.
We came for an end of winter break. When you enter the hotel it appears very basic. But it's actually a beautiful hotel in a stunning coastal location. All staff we met were respectful friendly. Our cleaner was lovely did an exceptional job seven days of the week. The breakfast was varied plentiful very tasty every day. Again the waiting staff were happy always had time for everyone. But the best hidden secret of this hotel for us was the golds gym which was free to use during your stay. The aerobic machines were of good standard well maintained but the weight section was of such high standard you won't be disappointed. Outside there's lots of room to spread out enjoy the far reaching sea views a beautiful location they've made the best of what the hotel has to offer. Well done all
The Roca Mar Hotel in Madeira far exceeded my expectations. The rooms are recently updated and are clean, spacious and fairly larger than I expected. We had a balcony overlooking the sea and the views were breathtaking. Customer service at the hotel was amazing and super appealing. We originally did not rent a car (I would recommend), but the reception staff helped us and it was SUPER easy. We did not eat dinner at the hotel (there are several good places on foot), but we have breakfast and it was very good. While not clear on the site, the fitness room on the property is excellent. It is a private gym that guests can use and it is a gym with all appliances and VERY clean. I recommend this hotel. They won't be disappointed.
The restaurant is located in a very beautiful place and offers a magnificent view from the terrace to the Desertas Islands, especially in the morning. We had 7 buffalo breakfast there. Every morning card has been changed with some beautiful surprises. Menu was quite rich and tasty, service was fast and friendly. Only disappointment was coffee there are several machines; only drinkable version was espresso. I also visited a few times in the evening for beer and madeira wine only good experiences. Even live music artist has his work quite normal :
