I made myself understood in ordering the fish of the day salad and mojo potatoes, and the food was awesome. Fortunately we ordered one fish between two or we would never have finished it This is fish how it should be cooked. Don’t miss out
Found this on a very windy day tucked almost below the harbour. A real fish restaurant- only open during the day. We only had a lovely fish fillet with Canary potatoes as we were on our way to the airport but we were aware of a mainly Spanish clientele eating even more interesting options. The staff were helpful and efficient and it was very reasonably priced.
Discovered by accident, great experience, local dishes. A fish and potatoes were very good. I also liked the local atmosphere there. I recommend the place.
If you are an aficionado of seafood straight from the ocean, fresh fish, lovely, familiar atmosphere and gorgeous vistas of the Big Blue, this is an absolute must do! A small fishing cooperative, the Cofradia de Pescado is a restaurant run by the fishermen who provide the fresh goods themselves, prepare the food and serve it in a simple, yet delicious way. The decor is simple, but most pleasing, with a variety of sea related decorations on the walls and live plants hanging from the ceiling. You can always count on their friendliness but beware: you do need some culinary vocabulary in Spanish to communicate and you need to have some cash on you, as the credit card terminal often refuses to collaborate. A wholehearted recommendation! P.S.: The restaurant is located almost literally at the southern end of the golden beach in St. Andres.
I was there with my friend, not expecting anything special but simply hoping for some fresh and tasty fish. We ordered the mixed fishplate (round about 19 EUR and, as soon as we noted the plate being solely composed of fish and potatoes, a salad of the house. On the plate we got there were four hand sized fish of two different fish specimen, which were just unheedingly thrown in the frying pan, which was honestly speaking a little bit disappointing. First off, the fish was indeed eatable, but the selection as well as the netto sum of fish, subtracting bones and scales and heads and tails, seemed quite humble especially regarding quality and pricing. The point is that we were at a fishermen’s place and even in Frankfurt, Germany, I get a mixed fishplate with four different types of fish with some seafood sides for less than 20 EUR. Furthermore, the salad came as a loose mix of low-quality components seemingly thrown together straight from the can: canned tuna, canned corn, canned pineapple, canned (and fake! crabmeat, without any dressing whatsoever. Blinded by appetite, we ignored our first impression, namely that the cook and his team were too lazy or too full of contempt for his guests to compose, refine and arrange a restaurant quality meal, and gave it a second try. Hoping for some sort of blackout on part of the kitchen staff being responsible for our first “course”, we ordered a plate of fried baby squids and were severely punished for it: The (medium sized, clearly cleanable squids weren’t washed and had all their quite noticeable guts inside – with a filling! To be perfectly clear: They had served us unwashed sandy squids full of squid intestines and squid poop! Honestly: I can abstain from language barriers, I can abstain from fancy interieur design, I can also deal with grumpy staff – but what I can’t get over is a lack of hygiene, a clean and adequate routine while preparing food, some degree of quality and at least the willingness to serve food that is somehow pleasing, that at the very least isn’t downright disgusting! As we returned the full plate, the staff didn’t ask why, but gave us a shifty smile instead! Completely disillusioned, we ordered the bill and left. To sum things up: Our most expensive and by far worst eating experience not only on Tenerife but ever which as a result haunted us for days! Beware!
