We were housed in residences forming part of the A Cannata apartments in Lingua and in the evening we dined at the A Cannata restaurant close by. Although we were a large group with various food preferences, all our requests were catered for without any problems. We had 2 types of pasta dishes penne alla Eoliana and spaghetti al Fuoco as 1st course of a set menu. Both were served (and their variations due to several types of intolerances of our group members) al dente and at the same time, so no one was left without his/her dish. The pasta dishes were simply divine and the fresh ingredients clearly the result of a labour of love. The Involtini alla pesce spada were also very good. The owner is of pleasant and cheerful disposition and made sure that the group was properly served. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience in a lovely and highly photogenic ambience. Highly recommended.
Came for lunch here on a boat trip with Salvatore (see review) from Lipari. He had bought some fish for the owner. Very good pasta meal with a few beers and wine. All served efficiently and with a smile, as the majority of us from Salvatore's boat descended for lunch. As we had to re-embark on the boat we did not have time to justice to the attached football museum. I would recommend the trip this restaurant if you are staying in Salina.
My family and I had dinner here last night. We are coming back tonight. It is THAT good. The atmosphere is perfect, with a large shaded airy dining area protected by beautiful trees. The view of the ocean only a few meters away is the icing on the cake. We have been on Salina for almost a week and in Palermo for a few days before that. We have tried many restaurants. All have been great, but Al Cannata is the best of them all. We found the food to be more creative and the preparation to be world class. I had a pulpo (octopus) antipasto, and I consider the preparation of that dish to be the test of a good chef. Here, it was perfect! Tender and delicately flavored. My shellfish risotto (ordered by accident I usually have a phobia about eating mollusks) has convinced me to change my habits. The service was excellent. We are American and that means we are not familiar with Italian restaurant culture, which moves at a different pace. Here, they accommodated our needs perfectly and made us feel at home. As I said, we are going back tonight and will be sure to go here the next time we visit.
Great place to lunch — I had the whispers and then the thun-fish paste, much eat. Mustels were delicious, very fresh and excellent taste, perfectly cleaned. the house wine was very tasty and my waitress was very friendly
The restaurant has a nice view of the sea, although for my goits it is a little too oriented to the theme of football. I give three stars because it is the first time I eat with television in the face (although the volume was zero this seems to me one of the most difficult things that can be done. If I want to eat with TV on the face I go to the sports bar under the house, and not to the island of salt with sea view). I got eyes in the oven, and I have to say they were good. my partner a curled oven, and this second we were not cooked so that it was tender. Also there was a waitress who wanted to take the dishes off the table, and eventually managed to remove the bait dish before I had finished taking them off to the fish. I would suggest replacing plastic roofs that protect from the wind with something more style (there are several alternative solutions. ) I understand that they are economic, but they don't seem very appropriate. Finally, I had not one of the tables closer to the sea because I was told that they were all booked. but when we came up from ours, after about an hour and a half, half of the tables booked was still empty. I mean, we weren't really good. In conclusion I say that the quality of raw material (fish) is absolutely excellent, but in fact service still have different things to learn. even if they are kind.
