I was more familiar with some of the ceviches, which by the way were totally on the mark. Peruvian cuisine is unique and a competent restaurant is a gem There is another one in Santa Rosa but the food is not as good as this place. Too bad about the service. I hope they can retain the chef. I am not sure how long this place can last unless they hire some attuned people . And get rid of the TV. Or hide it. I could do take and hear a TV.
Wonderful experience . Fun time . Food was great. Never had this type of cuisine . The pulled chicken stew was vibrant with new spices. The sweet potato and plantain chips were fun appetizers as was the empanadas . They need some kind of sauce or chutney to dip in though. One thing they were out of that sounded yummy was the sweet fried plantains. We had a neat drink the pisco sour that reminded me of a peruvian margarita with an egg white froth on top. Cant wait to have another or two next time. The house desert was sooo yummy words can not describe. One of the best things to top off an excellent meal. Cant wait to try more things soon.
We loved the delicious Peruvian flavors and textures. The service was very friendly and conscientious. We look forward to are return visit.
The dishes we ordered were excellent and well prepared. I enjoyed the interesting combinations of ingredients. I had Aji de Gallina....a lovely, creamy melding of various flavors. My partner ordered Beef Steak Brasa style...also quite good with a bright and slightly zingy sauce. For dessert, we shared a Peruvian style flan which had a nice flavor, but the texture seemed heavy and a bit grainy compared to traditional flan. Service was excellent. Our waiter seemed a bit diffident, but he was attentive and explained the ingredients and preparation of the various dishes when asked. We enjoyed the cuisine and will definitely return and bring friends. The experience might have been a bit more authentic if the space and ambiance were not quite so early warehouse . I realize it 's a trendy style, but the large open space did nothing to give me the feeling of dining in a native Peruvian atmosphere. We are early diners and therefore the restaurant was not full when we arrived. However, I can tell that the large space with concrete walls and high ceilings could be acoustically alive when there are many diners. Otherwise, a pleasurable dining experience.
I am Peruvian raised, authentic food from Peru served here. So glad we found La Perla! We ordered a variety of dishes so that my husband could appreciate the differences and it was great!
