Both the owners were there and they were each super knowledgeable and passionate about their product. Truthfully, it really showed. They had had an electrical issue so they were unable to make cocktails and we were relegated to just the sampling of spirits. This was ultimately a blessing. Each one of their spirits was a unique experience. From the slightly sweet vodka, to the citrus forward gin, the aged rum was amazingly balanced with a slight spice and vanilla, even the anise vodka was amazing. These guys really know what they are doing and are very educating about their approach if you inquire. All four of us were so impressed by their spirits that we each felt obligated... no, inspired to purchase a bottle. Of course I walked away with the most expensive bottle of cask proof rum, but I will happily enjoy sipping on it and look forward to returning for more.
Best hidden gem in the area! Iv been coming here for about 4 years and Jason and Scott never disappoint. They have mastered several different ORIGINAL cocktails and they always come out delicious. But what I really come to their distillery for is their Gin, which is un-traditionally crafted with grapefruit. Hands down the best. If you are into barrel aged rum, they have that too! Thanks for the great times and the delicious cocktails! Cheers!
This is a fantastic small business distillery in Santee. So excited to find this place close to us. Located in the industrial buildings next to the Jungle Fun Park. The owners are always super friendly every time we stop by. Their rum and vodka are our favorites. They make wonderful drinks that complement the alcohol perfectly. Stop by, you won't be disappointed!
Had a Groupon for the distillery. Used Giogle maps to get us here...don't trust it took us to the wrong driveway. It's located in a non-descript warehouse. Weren't quite sure when we pulled up. Glad we went inside. Jason amd his brother Scott(? Were there to greet us. Small batch distillers that are enjoying their hobby. Very knowledgeable about the process and willing to talk about. Quite an interesting take on rum, gin, and vodka. If you like sweet rums like Meyers and Bacardi, you are out of luck. These rums are beautifully done. Not too sweet, not bland either. Gin was impressive. Not a fan of the silver Rum, but the others were outstanding. Definitely highly encourage a visit here. You won't regret it. Get there soon, they are moving to Colorado in the near future.
Copper Collar Distillary is tough to find. It's nestled into a set of row garages housing dozens of businesses. FYI, it's in the middle of the last set facing the retaining wall. #126.I'll state upfront, that if you like delicious, handmade craft spirits, you better go soon. The owner is moving Copper Collar Distillary to Golden Colorado.Good news! They have a decent stock of wonderful Gins, Vodkas and Rums for sale before they go. It's worth the visit. These folks really love to distill. I've never been a big fan of spirits, but the tastings we enjoyed were remarkable. Botanicals, time, temperature and straight-up love of the craft were present in every sip. The conversation is interesting and the owners are a wealth of information. Former Navy, by the way.We were pleased to find a groupon that saved some cash! We even got a pair of tasting glasses. If you're looking for excellent spirits in Santee CA, I recomend you take a bottle home while you still can. Golden is nice enough (with it's Coors and all), but it's a long walk from San Diego!
