Excellent all around; however this dishes that have some Peruvian touch are just incredible. The sushi with a flavor touch of cebiche is to die for.
We ordered a boat with a combination of sushi, sashimi and makis. For s/140 it was a good choice. Prices are a bit on the high end in this Peruvian-Japanese restaurant (40-50 soles per Maki). They offer a Barra Libre or all you can eat limited menu for 65 soles which I 'll make sure to try on our next visit. The fish is fresh the rice is just right and their gari is amazing. We also ordered the three salmon Maki at our waiters recommendation but we weren 't impressed. The Himitsu Maki was delicious though! We really liked the restaurant but service was slow. The waiter took forever bringing a menu, a glass of wine and eveb the food took a while as well. I feel that for the price you pay service needs to improve a lot but the food is definitely worth a try.
I love japanese food and when it comes to it I'm particularly demanding. Although Matsuei handles a rather expensive menu, the experience has no match. Good old fashioned japanese cuisine without many pretentious fusion twists. My favourite by far.
