Went back to Nautilus Resort the next day and was told by the lady at the front reception it was closed and she had no idea where the owner had gone.
My partner and I went there to celebrate my birthday whilst on holidays and this was the restaurant that stood out to me in the Coffs Habour area. I loved the sound of all of the entree's besides the sashimi, as we both don't like it, so we ordered them all.OMG every dish showcased the freshness of the food and the level of care taken in preparing each dish. The flavours were delicate and balanced and after we finished all of the entree's my partner and I just looked at each other and said we have to try the snapper sashimi. It was soooo good but I put this down to the quality of the fish and also how it was handled. We then shared the pork main and it was just as artfully presented and mouth watering.Normally when eating out we may have a few nice things but there is always service or a dish or something that could be done better. The restaurant itself is basic but the food superseded all of my expectations and there was not one dish I would change. The place is BYO any alcohol and I highly recommend Mont and Sea to everyone.
Have been here twice. The first time was exceptional with a great selection on the menu and reasonably good service. The second time we went back with a group of friends and there were lots of things on the menu that were not available. One friend ordered the chicken and it came out raw so it was sent back to be redone but it never came back out. Dessert was very average to say the least however the first time we went it was amazing. The service was very poor. The waitresses had no idea what they were doing and really didn't present very well- what you would expect a fine dining restaurant to have. One benefit is it is byo however corkage is charged. Our entire table was charged corkage and over half were not drinking due to pregnancy or driving.
Don't expect a beautiful coastal view here it is a tennis court! I was really disappointed with this restaurant after reading some rave reviews of it being 'the best' of Coffs Harbour. As a local I cringe if people go away from our lovely area and think this is the best that Coffs has to offer as a dining experience. Firstly I have to say that the food we had on the night was fantastic - I really enjoyed the fusion of cuisines. What let this down badly was the very, very poor service. You'd like to think that clean glassware would be a given in a restaurant, yes? Not here, the glasses were dirty - I didn't like to complain at the time, as we had only just sat down but I had to wipe a lipstick smear off my glass. To order a beautiful soft shell crab which was accompanied by a miso soup and not be given a spoon, yet another 'attention to detail' example and when meal prices are comparable with the big smoke I would like to think that a dinner napkin would be a given. We didn't order a dessert initially - never know if we can fit them in! However, we decided to call it quits after the main and go home for some coffee and treats. This night was a significant wedding anniversary and we wanted something really special to remember it by. I do, the food was just perfect but the service, Not.
New Years Eve booked in for 7.30pm, arrived to a very average reception room very stuffy with the a/c battling a 29degree night.Tables unprepared with candles unlit, order for meals taken and waited for 45 minutes for entrée [oysters and a beetroot salad] then another 45 minutes for mains. The shame of it was that the food when it finally arrived was very good and lived up to other reviews. The chef is obviously talented but needs professional wait staff URGENTLY.
