The Barrelhouse Whisky & Wine - SAULT

I discovered this restaurant by reading Yelp reviews, which all highlighted the delicious food and generous portion sizes.

The appetizers were tasty and the craft beer was excellent. However, the vodka and Sprite I ordered was lacking in strength.

The food quality was excellent, indicating that the chef and kitchen staff are skilled and knowledgeable.

If you are looking for a place which is very casual, no pressure and friendly staff with interesting food then this is the place. The theme for the Barrelhouse is to offer variety with smaller plates and does it well. Although the menu is quite small the tapas type meals were both interesting and mostly very good. Clearly it allows the chef some creativity where they mostly work and the odd one doesn't quite. The fun is exploring which ones meet anticipation and which don't. Local beer on tap and actually suprisingly cheap wine by the bottle made this an very enjoyable evening altogether.
