Generally the food has always being very good, and with one of us born in and grown up in Hong Kong BCC we have a pretty good idea of what is normal good Cantonese food and what is just plain bad. During Covid 19 when many places were closed the take out at Golden Dragon stayed open. This was a big advantage as those of us who had to travel for medical reasons needed somewhere to find prepared food, and there were very few available. Sadly, over the years the Golden Dragon has been in decline and food quality has descended from being a really enjoyable and looked forward to meal to one that is just a minimal source of sustenance. This culminated on Victoria Day when we arrived for a next morning medical appointment. We spent $60+ there on food which turned out to be absolutely disgusting and inedible. The beef curry had chunks of unidentified meat type substance which looked and tasted like anything but beef. A second dish, one of the chow mein variations had pieces of raw red uncooked meat; supposed to be beef, but again, doubtful. Unfortunately this is not the first time we have received raw uncooked meat from Golden Dragon. We strongly urge everyone to avoid this place, particularly seniors or anyone with delicate or sensitive stomachs.
The place is falling apart, and if the front of house looks this bad what does the kitchen look like… public health needs to check this place out as it’s disgusting. Food was “ok” but not worth the huge price increase, staff are rude and the place is just gross
We enjoyed a wide selection of Chinese dishes in the buffet setting. Hot and delicious. More choice could be available for the desserts. But we were pleased with the main course. Nice service and pleasant servers.
A local long time favourite Chinese restaurant with well prepared , unpretentious food. I do cook a lot of Chinese and Thai stir-fries at home , but sometimes we have a craving for deep fried chicken balls, egg foo young and buffet deep fried shrimp at a reasonable price and it comes with attentive and friendly service! They also serve a large pot of Oolong tea to wash it all down .Local families know to show up early at the buffet for plentiful and fresh Chinese food.
Outdated dining area and pricey for the quality of the food Prices also vary depending on the day. Buffet hasn’t changed in twenty years
