Feedback gevenWe had a wonderful dining experience at this charming, low-key restaurant. The food was exceptional, featuring a delightful blend of familiar and sophisticated flavors that were perfectly balanced. We visited to celebrate my husband's birthday, and this place went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be coming back!
The award-winning chicken is fantastic! However, the cornbread and ragu pasta were just average. The wait time was a bit lengthy.
Next, we ordered wings. Everyone has a preferred flavor when it comes to wings, and I usually enjoy hotter varieties. These wings were more on the sweet BBQ side, which isn’t my top choice, but I had no complaints. Where these wings really excelled was in their texture and mouthfeel. They represented the ideal chicken wing; crispy, sticky, sweet, and juicy. I would go to great lengths for a spicy version of these wings. Thankfully, they are not exclusively a wing place. My wife and I also ordered the NY strips, served with cornbread, mac and cheese, and cheesy grits on the side. The steaks, cooked medium rare, had a nice sear and were wonderfully tender—an expertly prepared steak. The seasoning was perfectly balanced; it wasn’t overpowering but also not too subtle. The aioli was phenomenal. I'm not sure what was in it, but it paired perfectly with the steak. The fingerling potatoes were dressed in brown butter, which I believe included brown sugar and possibly some cinnamon. They were exceptional—crispy without being fried, and with a delicate interior. It was a delightful combination. The cornbread was another highlight. They described it as rye cornbread. My only experience with rye has been the dark bread from the grocery store, which I’m not a fan of. However, by this point in the meal, I fully trusted the restaurant, and since I love cornbread, I decided to take the plunge. I have no regrets. The rye added a delicious, snappy flavor to the rich cornbread, and the honey butter was the perfect accompaniment. The cheesy grits and mac and cheese were both quite good—solid interpretations of southern classics. But I’ve already overwhelmed my fingers and, I’m sure, my readers. So, I’ll wrap it up here. Cotton and Rye is truly exceptional—every bite was a delight, and no detail was overlooked. You can feel the care and thought put into every aspect of the meal. Our server Patrick was very friendly and attentive, providing 10/10 service. I will definitely return.
We were there for my birthday and it was fantastic from start to finish. Our server Patrick is the best. Drinks were perfect, and the food was nothing short of spectacular.
Another outstanding dining experience at C&R. The service was amongst the best I have received at any restaurant I have dined at. Friendly, present and extremely knowledgeable all while not being intrusive. The food was amazing from start to finish from the charcuterie to the phenomenal wings, salad and entrees. Lets talk about the finish. Our server saw how quickly we demolished the desserts and the sad look on my face that it was all gone and the server appeared a couple of minutes later and dropped off another caramel peach tea ice cream dessert with a grin and a nod. This shows and incredible amount of experience from the ownership, management and floor staff to have such a nice touch be so easily executed. Well done team Cotton and Rye.
