(once for a change from burgers, I ordered the advertised homemade Lasagne special.... what I got was a previously frozen lasagna microwave dish for the same price). No matter, it's a fun place for a afternoon snack or for a little nightlife.
By far the best restaurant on savary. and, as far as we know, the only. yes, it is a hard competition, but riggers is still worth it. considering that they don't compete with anyone, eating is surprisingly good and the opportunity to be fair. the hahn is very appreciated. it is a fun place to hang around, meet some others who stay on the island, and take them a meal from cooking and cleaning for themselves.
Very nice place to have a break. we were there last day of september long weekend, all were on the afternoon leavin and so it was very nice and quiet afterwards.
Based on other reviews and talking to some locals, we thought that this place would be closed for the september long weekend. we were excited to see it open! with weight restrictions on the seaplane we could not bring a beer so that it is possible to have an ice-cold local beer from powell river, was amazing! this is a rustic small fishing style pub with a wrap around the terrace that leads to a large backyard area. we ordered the Latsburg and Chessburger both Friday and Saturday and they were delicious. the personal was great! ken drove the place when we were there and he was excellent. he answered some questions about the island and recommended to see and do things. in any case enough to know! this is a must on the island. great eating, great business, great times.
We visited Savary under the impression that Rigger 's would be closed for the season. After a day of walking the beach, we were pleasantly surprised to see the 'Open ' sign hung on the door! We were the only two in there and after a few...beers and great conversation with the (new) manager, Ken, we got some food. I had the salmon burger and he had the beef burger. Both were perfectly prepared and dressed. We liked it so much we went back the next day. Ken was super warm and you could tell how much he loved the restaurant and how hard he worked to keep it going. Food: Awesome Beer: Super awesome
