Shing Cheong Congee & Noodle

During our time living in Illinois, we decided to take a weekend trip to Canada via Detroit for two reasons - one, because we had the opportunity to do so, and two, because Canadian McDonald's offers McChickens!

Love their over 10 varieties of rice noodle roll and congee. You can order extra large portions of the cheong fun, which are made fresh to order, and come with a sauce that tastes different from the usual Hong Kong dim sum places. Try the dough sticks and braised pig's intestine on rice, but avoid the won ton noodle soup.

The McDonald's near the Ambassador Bridge is terrible. I have a severe onion allergy and specifically requested no onions in my order, but they still put onions in my food.

The border from Detroit, Michigan into Canada. One of my favorite restaurants in Windsor is The City Grill. This place has a great atmosphere, delicious food, and fantastic service. I highly recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area.
