Sunmoon Restaurant & Bar - Scarborough

Small upstair restaurant combined with the hotel. We ordered lamb shank, salmon salad & sticky date pudding. Good service. The food was nice but maybe it would be better to have more choice for main menu.

Over look shell patrol station and carpark. Average service not knowledgeable. Reasonable price for this location. Lemon Chicken was good Sticky beef with creamy mash was good, fresh and creamy. Well done chef but still need to improve. Around 17 people at the restaurant waiting more than 20min to get main meal.

The restaurant area is quite pleasant, the view would be lovely during the day, but at night time it is not the best, overlooking the service station over the road.  I would suggest going for lunch or arrive early for the sunset if going for dinner.  We went on a groupon voucher, given to us by our daughter. The service was friendly and attentive.  The food was very ordinary and was a let down. Something I could have prepared at home.We had the tempura squid and pulled lamb bao for entrée.  Unfortunately the squid was over oily and the taste was not pleasant, the bao bun was not soft and tender as they should be.  However the lamb was very tasty.Mains consisted of a Caesar Salad with chicken - which was a large piece of breast ,smoked in-house, and simply cut in half lengthwise, which did not look appetizing at all!  The salad itself was good, but could have used some more dressing.  The chicken would have been much better sliced thinly and placed throughout the salad.  My husband had the steak, hand cut chips and salad. He thoroughly enjoyed the steak which was cooked exactly as he ordered (medium), however several of the hand cut chips were from green potatoes - not nice!  The share desert platter did look beautiful, however the taste was a letdown. Some items on the platter appeared to be purchased rather than made in-house.  The platter consisted of a square of cold sticky date pudding (strange) and a warm sauce, a cold wedge of chocolate brownie, and a piece of cheesecake, there was also a spoonful of pink icecream which seemed very out of place!   Hubby did enjoy the sticky date pudding as he is a big fan of sticky date, he did comment that it would have been better warmed. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to others if you are looking for something a bit special.
