It came with 4 sliced breads they were hot lovely! (It's on the house) The pasta we ordered were both excellently executed. The Carbonara was creamy tasty, but the sauce was not excessively rich (like most of the Carbonara), which I thought it was perfect to my liking! The spicy vegan spaghetti was the very appetising and it's possibly the best spaghetti we had for years. There was only one staff in the dinning room (which we suspected she was the boss). We asked for some ice to go with the cokes and she brought us a bowl of ices. The customer service was attentive, food was delicious portions were huge! It's also not expensive. Have seen it in Google that it's temporary closed but hope it will reopen soon! Highly recommended when you visited Schaffhausen!
I'm sure things have changed since the last English review of this restaurant (2016, that's 3 years ago as our dining experience here has been the total opposite. It was lovely, relaxing and delicious. It was our first meal in Schaffhausen, what an intro to the delicious Italian dining options in this town. Friendly staff, one spoke good English and helped us through the German menu which is mainly pasta, gnocchi and rissotto. Prices were typically Swiss (somewhat more expensive than anywhere in Europe! , much the same as the other restaurants in this town. What sets this place apart however is the glorious taste of their pasta sauces. Even our children in the other side of the world commented how they would like to lick the plate clean just looking at the pictures alone! And we did (actually we asked for more bread to wipe our plates clean ha ha . We had homemade gnocchi in bolognese sauce and tortelloni filled with ricotta and chopped walnuts in a creamy nutty sauce (oh yumm! . Nice place. Super clean toilets. Highly recommended.
Had dinner here with 2 adults and two children. Oldest child wanted plain spaghetti because of an injury in his mouth which you would think would be possible. It was firmly understood we were not locals, although I speak passable German, which is more than I can say for any other langauges of the staff. The waiter offered some kind of oil on the spaghetti, which I though would be olive oil. It turns out that the oil was actually pepper oil, rendering his meal inedible. As a result, he took my meal and I tried to eat the oily, peppery spaghetti, which was more horrible than I ever imagined spaghetti could be. The lasagna had enough salt to invoke spontaneous heart disease. Even the simple tomato sauce was full of rosemary sticks and not very tasty. If they ever open a trattoria at Guantanamo, these are your people! The staff passed us a dozen times and never asked if everything was ok. Finally when they took the plates away, I was blamed because OF COURSE the oil was infused with peppers. All in all, not very nice staff, terrible food, the best thing is you can always get a table, which should have been our warning.
I have been too often in this restaurant and am always delighted by the excellent cuisine. the gerantin is very warm and accommodating. the service staff is very attentive and friendly. it is placed great value on the quality of the products.
