So....I quickly checked TripAdvisor for a suggestion. Brauerei Falken was nearby...and had good reviews, so off we went. We had fondue and drinks. The fondue was great, but at 24 euros a head, overpriced. So be warned. The restaurant offered a smoke filled room option on the ground floor bar room or a nonsmoking option upstairs in a more fancy setting. We opted for old bar + smoke. As none of us smoke, probably a bad choice as the room reminded me of an '90s UK pub. So, we made the best of it, enjoyed the company, great beer and outstanding fondue. Would I recommend it? I guess, but know what you are getting....smokey, touristy bar with really good, but expensive food.
A very nice setting combined with HUGE helpings of food. I went for the local specialities and never regretted. That was simply delicious. When you add a glass (or two…) of wine… ;)
We had a great dinner. the gay was delicious, the beer went very well and the waiter adrian made us very welcome. all while sitting outside they enjoy a warm august evening in beautiful schaffhausen. unbelievable.
The tasty device is a long wooden, carved snake and the whole place has a kind of old worldly aroma in the measure, unfortunately, to have a bucket next to our table to catch the dripping that, quite alarming, seemed to come. from the electrical light. another interesting point for nostalgie: the first question we were asked about was: smoking or non-smoking? that has not been asked for ever! the ground floor is smoking and the upper floor are non-smoking. I wish I had smoked. eating when it came (there was a coachload in the other room) was delicious. my currywurst went beyond the normal slimming in curry sauce, and the accompanying salate was also original, but the sausage was cold (what it should be)? we ordered the local falken beer and local red, both excellent. a safe bet when they try local rate, but check whether the currywurst should be eaten hot or cold and maybe not sitting at the electric light near the wondo.
We had a 3course lunch in the falken restaurant and were completely satisfied with this it area. the food taste was fabulous. its location was directly in the city center and close to many shopping possibilities. the restaurant was decorated with a simple but warm layout. the staff was helpful and always smiling.
