Reussischer Hof - Schmoelln

A cosy ambience in the restaurant. Unfortunately, differences between kitchen and service. Result: waited for lunch every two hours, but was rewarded with quality. Germany

Hotel Reussischer The Hof in Schmölln is a 2-minute walk from the market square. I write this because we had hired our car on the market in ignorance of the parking facilities at the hotel. If not required, the hotel has its own parking. We were not there as hotel guests, but visited the restaurant. Although only two, but for reasons of clarity, preordered to get a seat on a weekday to the lunch table. Would have been possible without reservation because we were the only ones to the lunch table next to three times 2 other guests. But better we find pre-booking always and everywhere to not experience disappointment when you need to starve again because no place is free. The weather was nice so we could take place under the open sky in the courtyard. The menus were quickly brought and kindly asked for drinks. For me, my husband as a driver took a cyclist and still spicy water. Very good was the regional reference to the wine industry, there were almost exclusively wines from the Saale Unstrut region. You can't find it in restaurants. The Grauburgunder from a winery in Val Gardena, where it can always be in Saxony Anhalt, was excellent for me and was almost a bargain with € 4.90 for 0.2 liter. For dinner we ordered the fried Petersfisch on zucchini tomato vegetables with potatoes and my husband Mutt roasts, which should be invented in melting, and of course beats are called Schmöllner buttons. Why? Because Schmölln was once known for his button factory and called himself a button city. The buttons were delicious like the blunt roast, but we did not find any buttons in it: even the fish very well and all dressed appealingly, and then after a relatively short waiting time hot on the table. All in all was the fun, and it was really one, so about 50 €, then at the end there were 2 espresso. Very reasonable, good service, delicious food. We recommend this restaurant.
