This little hot dog stand may not look like much on the outside, but they produce some fine dogs. We stopped here late on Saturday morning for lunch. They offer a variety of dogs, italian sausage and fish sandwiches, wings, fries/rings, ice cream and malts, and soft drinks. We ordered a cheese coney and a slaw dog. They came packed up in styrofoam carryout box which kept them warm and safe until we got to where we could dig into them. Both were fantastic the dogs were good sized with good flavor and snap, the buns were super fresh and soft, and the topping were tasty and copious the cheese coney's chili had good flavor and was not sweet like Skyline or Gold Star and came with plenty of shredded cheddar cheese. We opted to add chopped onions and mustard, and they came through clearly and added just the right complexity to the taste. The slaw dog was equally good, topped with a large portion of slightly vinegary slaw which really gave the dog a distinctive and tasty counterpoint to the coney dog. Overall, we were extremely pleased and at $8 for the two high quality, tasty dogs thought it was a great bargain.

I have been going to Mr. Gene's for many years. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. I usually get either a Chicago Dog or Hot Mett with everything. This last trip the lady suggested the Chicago Dog, but with a hot mett instead of a hot dog. Good stuff!

My husband and his family has been coming to Genes since his childhood. He then turned that into our family tradition. We love their foot longs!! They still use real cheese and fresh buns. They have shaded picnic tables so you can take your time to enjoy all their menu options. This is well worth the drive and its a must with our family.
