I took my girlfriend to Sotto on 7-2-24 for her 40th birthday. This was her only request for her birthday and let me say...from the both of us...Sotto was an amazing dining experience! Our waiter was absolutely the best! All staff that helped bring drinks...dinnerware...courses of food...were all trained professionals with an amazing aura of positive energy. This is what was expected of such a restaurant of this cualiber. Safe to say...our expectations were met exceeded. We will definitely be returning for future special occasion meals!
I am sorry I didn't take photos MUST HAVES Oil packed tuna TarTare and order a site of Tortano Polenta Gelati- we had the pistachio I wanted to try the chicken liver mousee and cacio e pepe but I was so full even though we shared the other items. The bartenders were wonderful and made great suggestions including cocktails. So glad we were able to get in!
Wife and I got a surprise last minute reservation for our anniversary. Ended up sitting at the bar. The food, drinks, ambience and service were all top notch, this is easily one of our favorite restaurants in Cincinnati!
Finally, my husband and I got into Sotto for dinner! We were looking forward to discovering what the fuss was all about. I'm not sure if arrival met expectations, mostly because it was difficult and even a bit scary to navigate the dark steps after being in the bright sunshine outside. However, that ambiance or atmosphere was the only area this restaurant that fell slightly short. Our server was friendly, attentive, and wonderful. The food was fabulous and well-spaced between the courses. The recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed the goat cheese bread, the salad that was the special for the spring menu (I believe it was called the parmesan salad), two pasta dishes and we shared the doughnuts for dessert. We both enjoyed 2 glasses of wine and a dessert drink with our doughnuts. We also added a side of potatoes with our pasta. Everything was perfectly cooked, tasty, well portioned, and satisfying. We took home a bit of each pasta, half of the potatoes, and two doughnuts. It was fantastic, and not as expensive as I would have expected. The only critique is on the atmosphere. It was REALLY dark in there, to the point that we had to use our cell phone flashlights to read the menu. A kind server brought us a table light to aid with this, although perhaps that was done because having two people holding their cell phones above the menu was somewhat indecorous. Additionally, the music was rather loud, so much so that the server was almost shouting to explain the menu to us.
