We were treated with some jazz tunes that the owner played on the key, and he invited us to play a little (we are both musicians). The meat was tender and tasteful (we tried only about any kind they had and brought some home for the children's cans). The corn bread was sweet and moist. The sauces were great too! We're coming back! The owner says they usually have live music on Fridays and Saturdays (we were here on a Wednesday during a sun game, so it was somehow calm).
My date and I enjoyed our dinner and a sun game with owners Joseph and Vajira! This power pair traveled from Globe AZ to open this delicious hole-in-the-wall BBQ spot. They made us feel like family and they were very attentive and entertaining. I had the brisket grilled cheese with sweet potatoes and my company had a sandwich with sweat pot, brisket and coleslaw. The food was very delicious and the BBQ sauces are so full of taste. You have open Saturdays at 6 when someone plays their desired instrument. The couple loves jazz and has a baby border in the dining room!
The food was really good. Had the slider basket, Brisket was the most beautiful. Friends were crispy. Small place, but a lot of domestic character. Great people. Go back to the cat!
We spent 24 days in the southwest, and this place was one of the highlights. We came to the birthday of Chef Joe, enjoyed great BBQ and danced to the sounds of a 3 piece harmonica band that had been together for 22 years. Enjoy it so much that we came back the next two days. On the second day we mentioned that it was my companion's birthday. Do you want cake? asked Shay, the bar leaned and served. Sure enough, the 3. Tag Shay delivered a huge dish of chocolate cake with one side of ice cream. And Joe played a birthday song on the piano. Really good BBQ and even nicer people. Try it here. You won't go wrong.
My friend and I had come to Scottsdale to see the Birkett Family Christmas light display (Winter Wonderland)and literally stumbled on this nearby barbecue place to have a late dinner (we were here near closing time). The owner greeted us and waited on us personally, and I asked him if he was proud of his barbecue (he was) because the best barbecue is made by people who are passionate about barbecue! Believe me, I know my barbecue! I have enjoyed barbecue in all of the major barbecue states, including North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, and others not known for barbecue but turning out some damn good barbecue! This was as good as any I have had, coast-to-coast! I had the Smokin' Blue Sandwich with sweet potato fries (an awesome pulled pork sandwich with blue cheese and coleslaw on a brioche bun) and my friend had the Brisket Sliders. We also were privileged to try the moist, tender smokey ribs on the house, because the owner said it was close to closing! Tried and enjoyed both the House and Sweet sauces. The owner also played a song for us on the baby grand. All in all, a wonderful culinary and dining experience! Will definitely return when I'm back next year. Highly recommend! PS I spent an entire month in Texas and tried barbecue in several different cities. My opinion is, it is overrated. Not the best in any of my categories.
