Tallavera sits upon a mountain overlooking the city below. The best time to visit this restaurant is right before sunset to watch the sun sink over the mountains creating a very scenic view. One of their newer options, Pan Con Tomate, was a Spanish styled bruschetta and unlike any other bruschetta I have ever encountered before. Their signature Talavera Paella is definitely a must with a large variety of seafood and meats. An unexpected star was their side dish of Patatas Bravas which was potatoes cooked in different spices then placed on a spicy tomato sauce and finished with lemon aïoli. Overall a great experience and planning on returning very soon.
Table for 2, seated right against the glass outside overlooking the scenic vista. At this point I couldn't wait for the sunset to show up. Drinks Manhattan Arizona sunset (or sunrise? ... Delicious! Apps Skipped, although they did bring us a tasting of oysters that were out of this world. Dinner Cuttlefish Ink Mellow Rice, cooked perfectly with such a care and it showed and a 20oz Bone In Ribeye, oh my gosh, cooked medium well should have went for medium rare but still one of the best steaks I've ever had. Sides, Raclette Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Mushrooms soooo flipping tasty! It all went so well together. Dessert CHURROS because why not. Who doesn't love churros? These definitely did not disappoint even though they were ordered to go. So I could enjoy them in peace. Overall service and ambiance were perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner date. Matt our server was great. BUT THE SUNSET, this was the highlight of my experience. Coming from San Diego sunsets are always beautiful ..but this, these colors, I can only wish to see that again soon! Cheers, Talavera you out did yourselves.
From arrival to departure, a special occasion. Lovely views, attentive service and yummy food. We've been here several times and it's always a highlight. Even met the new chef. Excellent!!
We've been going to Talavera for years and we're quite disappointed when we learned they removed the octopus from the appetizer menu. The duck I had for dinner was marginal and the steak that my husband had was mediocre at best. Perhaps this was an off night nonetheless we were disappointed with the overall experience.
