The portions have literally been cut in half and the quality of pretty much every ingredient has gotten suspect to say the least. We have been eating here for years and are quite sad to see this happen to the ONLY sushi restaurant in sechelt! We won’t be going back until things improve. There you have it in a nutshell!
This restaurant is a timeless favorite. Even though I only got takeout this time, I have dined in at the Gibsons location many times before. I walked in, ordered an Awesome Roll, and was told to come back in 20 minutes. When I returned, my food was already bagged up and waiting for me. The roll tasted fresh and the temperature was just right - not too cold to make the sweet potato soggy. I decided to eat at the beach instead of inside, and it was a delightful experience.
The food was enjoyable, but the portion sizes were slightly on the smaller side.
This was the worst sushi experience I've had. The products were cheap and overpriced. The chicken teriyaki was breaded and tasted strange, while the avocado roll was also not good - it's hard to mess up an avocado roll. The gomae salad was incredibly small for $7, with the "balls" being the size of a Toonie and tasting like frozen spinach with a cheap, pre-made bottled peanut sauce. Overall, the food was terrible and I wouldn't recommend this place. However, I guess that's what you get for trying a small town sushi spot. And all of this cost $20, which is a complete rip off.
