New menu was brilliant, although we had also eaten from the old, which was a great value for money. nice eating and very friendly and helpful staff.
The soup was bland and microwaved, while the overall quality of the food was decent for pub fare. The dessert was frozen in the center. The portion sizes were good, but I would not recommend this place. The staff were friendly, although they could not apologize enough for the issues with the meal.
Visited in a party and was not impressed. the outer is lovely, but as soon as they get in, the drabness comes in. from the Drab reception zone we went down Drab corridors and through a Drab dance hall to get to the dining room and ask ourselves what we are coming. the room was not too bad and the tables were nicely laid, but eating was terrible. I never had such an evil Caesar salad barely salate, just a few limp leaves, hard, dry chicken, no crumb and a puppy bottle sauce. the “Roast-Turkey” was a few slices of something in a serious, and the sticky toffee pudding was just a square of sponge in a thin custard. a really depressing experience and the cook should be ashamed. we have no intention of going back there.
I recently went to a lunch for 250 people at this hotel and I can honestly say it is the worse meal that I have ever had. I don't know whose fault it was for the selection of food available but we couldn't choose the...starter or the sweet only the main course and there was only two options lamb or vegetarian. The starter was half a cold pepper with cold couscous and vegetables (it was like a hard blob of rice) with a sprinkling of lettuce. My main course was an aubergine soaked in oil with a selection of vegetables inside (awful). The roast potatoes weren't roasted but the new potatoes were lovely. The hard and poor flavoured treacle tart was something else to avoid. The staff were attentive and polite but the food itself was poorly cooked and flavourless. Before our meal we were able to buy a cup of cool coffee as well if we wanted for £2, I declined. Not somewhere that I would wish to go for a meal again.
