Guero's Backyard - Seguin

The place looked amazing, and Google said it was open, but we got there, the place was closed up, and no one answered the phones, so we went down the street to Noe's

Perfect! The Chicken Piccata is our favorite. Cooked to perfection with a lovely beurre blanc sauce. The salad dressing was to die for. We are so lucky to have such a talented chef here in Seguin, there is no one who can compare. Thank you!

Original Review: We arrived shortly after their posted hours, but there was no clear entrance. We ended up wandering into what appeared to be the backyard, where we found a cluttered porch that partially blocked the only door we noticed. Not seeing any way to enter (or any instructions on waiting, etc.), I called the number listed here, but it was disconnected or out of service. I tried a different number on a sign, but that went straight to voicemail. For those who order over the phone, what number are you using? Because I couldn’t find any that were working. I’d really like to try the food, but I’m not willing to drive an hour just to find the place potentially closed and unresponsive.

I hadn't visited Guero's since before the pandemic, but recently I've enjoyed several carry-out lunches that left me wanting more. These meals were actually delivered to our meeting spot by Craig, the chef and owner, who the restaurant is probably named after. "Güero" means fair-haired, and in this context, it likely refers to Craig, who fits that description. In my opinion, he is the best chef in Seguin—excluding BBQ and Asian cuisine. His tacos are outstanding, although they don't exactly align with traditional Mexican flavors. The lunches he’s been providing for our meetings can only be described as gourmet cuisine. I've also attended a couple of upscale private dinners he catered, and I continually hope he will bring another high-end restaurant to Seguin, like the one he had more than a decade ago.
