My small group of three recently visited the Railway Tavern for Sunday Lunch for the first time, and we were pleasantly surprised! The homemade food was delicious with generous portions. Two of us ordered the roast beef while one had the lamb shank, followed by treacle sponge and ginger sponge from the variety of desserts available. The food was all tasty and the pub was nicely decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Phil and Chris, along with our friendly waitress, provided a warm welcome. We will definitely be returning to the Railway Tavern soon for another affordable and delicious meal.
We love the food at The Railway just as good as my mum's (who we take often and she agrees). Chris and Phil are lovely and welcoming. I also like trying the guest real ales that Phil introduces each month.
Me and wife and now not so little girl have just returned from having had yet another lovely Sunday lunch. The food here is all home made. There is a Choice of meats that are served with Yorkshire puddings and mash, roast potatoes and a choice of at least 4 different vegetables. Gravy and condiments if required. The puddings are great too if you can manage one ? The hand pulled beer here is always good with a ever changing award winning selection on offer ! A warm welcome is alway guaranteed here from the owners and friendly staff ! I honestly don't think you could find anywhere better to eat a great Sunday lunch. The prices are also very reasonable too. Food is now only available on a Sunday 12 till 5pm. Please note on a earlier review on here that seems now to have disappeared someone disliked there steak pie ? I think they must have got this place mixed up ? Because the railway tavern at Hensall doesn't and never has served steak pie in the last 3/4 years that I've been eating here.
If you want a traditional Sunday Dinner then the Railway Tavern in Hensall is worth a visit. Phil and Christine make you feel welcome providing a friendly relaxed atmosphere.Their Sunday Dinner comes with plenty of fresh vegetables and Yorkshire puddings and Christine's homemade puddings are something to look forward to afterwards if you've got a sweet tooth.
