When you have walked from Foz to Matosinhos and need refreshment, this is the place for it. Very welcoming, very helpful and very delicious. The tuna steak was fabulous as was the jamon, egg and cheese sandwich. Service was excellent. Shame we couldn’t stay longer....Thank you.

We came across this place by accident at about 3pm, saw it was recommended by trip advisor and we decided to have coffee; wine and dessert. The 2 staff that we interacted with looked like they had both taken miserable pills and left us waiting...an uncomfortably long time. Whilst I understand that English is not a language that everyone know, the look on the man’s face as I apologised for not speaking Portuguese and tried to explain slowly that we just wanted drinks and dessert was one of disdainful resignation. I asked for Spumante, however, after my friend asked for a coffee with milk, the man told us he did not have milk. We were surprised that a well recommended restaurant would not have milk, but the discourteous audacity in telling my friend that if he wanted coffee with milk maybe he should try the bar next door, was to say the least, rude and unwelcome. We realise that we were not going to be big spenders in that restaurant that particular afternoon, but we had already said we liked the prices of the food and in my opinion, there was a possibility of returning to eat a full meal there. However after being told that we would be better off trying another place; that’s exactly what we decided to do and will never return to Taberna Lusitana again.

We bought very fresh seafood in the adjacent seafood market paolo greeted us and set us outdoors where we cartoffel mixed salat roast padron paprika enjoyed a beautiful bottle white wine and perfectly boiled calamari and dorado. the charming chef came out to...meet us, sure that we enjoyed everything it was one of the best meal times in our 30-day visit in portugal and we will be back!

Large eating, atmosphere and view of the mercado matosinhos filled with mix of local and tourist would definitely recommend!
