The restaurant, housed in a beautiful building, is managed by the lively and friendly Fatima Fernandes. The journey to her establishment is peaceful and offers a glimpse of a Goa frozen in time. Upon arrival, Fatima's warm welcome sets the tone for one of the most memorable meals of my life. I highly recommend trying the chicken croquettes and fish carvings, as they instantly transported me back to my childhood. It's the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and savor the island's gentle breeze while enjoying cold beers, tasty cutlets, and perfectly seasoned yarn curry rice. Pro tip: make sure to call ahead to reserve a room or a table for lunch, allowing enough time for preparation.
If you are looking for a peaceful and chilled-out place to enjoy a cold beer and some Goan food, this is the perfect spot for you. I recently visited this restaurant and had a wonderful experience on the beautiful Chorao Island. The owner, Ms. Fatima, is incredibly friendly and ensures that all dishes are made fresh. It is best to call ahead if you are going in a group, as finding help on the island can be challenging. I typically enjoy some beers by the water, place my food order, and return after 30 minutes for a delicious meal. In addition to the restaurant, Chorao Island is also home to the Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and Lake Mayem, where you can participate in water sports activities. I recommend starting your day with a visit to the sanctuary and then heading to Lafayette restaurant for a enjoyable lunch and some fun times.
You need to take a ferry from Ribander to Ms. Fatima Fernandes' house, which is doubled as a restaurant, it is a bird sanctuary near her place, it is a simple place, with delicious home made foods from Fatima, we loved the... Chicken Chapel, which was filled with taste, the pork sausage Biriyani and the local Goan-Pav, we enjoyed our chilled beer birds
The restaurant has a lovely house atmosphere where you can call the owner, who also happens to be the cook, "Auntie," and your food will be ready in no time! The menu is a bit limited for vegetarians, so it's recommended to call in advance if you're looking for vegetarian options. However, non-vegetarians will have a great time trying out the dishes. The area is quiet and has great cell phone reception, enhancing the experience of enjoying freshly homemade meals. Although the restaurant may be a bit hard to find, it is definitely worth the effort. I would definitely go back again.
