Szentgyörgy Pince - Sfântu-Gheorghe

We went to this restaurant because of its good reviews on TripAdvisor. It is very difficult to find it due to the lack of indications or signs. Even when we were already at the entrance (an undecorated white room), we went back out into the street because no sign or arrow indicated that we had to go down some stairs (the restaurant is in the basement, an old cellar). The place is nice and cosy. When going to a new restaurant, without knowing the size of the dishes, the waiter must assess whether what is ordered is clearly too little or too much. Our waiter encouraged us to order 2 dishes, and on top of that, to order side dishes. So much food and we couldn't finish it. We don't like to throw away food, and we leave with a bad aftertaste of eating a lot and wasting food. The goulashes were ok. One dish of ciuperci (mushrooms) had an aftertaste of burnt oil (due to the griddle temperature being too high). It would have been better to fry them. The dessert Kremnitz that they serve has nothing to do with the name. It's a plain pudding. Overall we left quite disappointed.

For us... the place is like home, since the restaurant is actually in the back yard of the block... We eat there weekly.. 3-4 times per week, since last summer, when we moved into this city. The food is very very good, the people there are very nice and the atmosphere, simply beautiful. The single problem that we have now... is that the prices increased a lot since the beginning of this February... and not easy for us to continue our habit of eating so often. Anyhow, we consider it one of the best place in town! For us, is always the first option..

We come to this place for many years and it never failed our expectations. Portions generous and tasty, good wine and nice service. With basic Romanian you can place the orders or just point what you want in the english menu. We had 3 courses with drinks and a bottle of the "very expensive " wine for about 50 Euro.

Amazing food, amazing customer service, we always come back not just for the food, but for the athmosfer, service too.

It was difficult to find this place being placed in a sort of interior court, but it defenitely worth the walk. The terrace is intimate and cozy, the staff was very friendly and the food was great. Traditional, fresh and delicious.
