Ram's Head Inn - SHELTER ISLAND

We had a fantastic experience at Rams Head. We arrived early to enjoy drinks on the lawn overlooking the water. We were then seated at a lovely table on the patio with a beautiful view. We started with two glasses of wine and delicious warm bread with three toppings, a nice change from other restaurants during the pandemic. We shared a romaine salad, I had the chicken, and my husband had the scallops - all very tasty! Although the restaurant is on the pricier side, it is worth it for a special occasion. The service was excellent, with manager Dennis checking on us frequently and our server Sophia being wonderful. We will definitely be returning soon!

Absolutely fabulous meal! We came as a group, and arrived at this aesthetically gorgeous location to find our lovely table outside on a covered patio. The decor inside is well appointed modern intertwined with historically charming details. The server was friendly knowledgeable the sommelier was happy to share his recommendations and make pleasant conversation with guests. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals as well as excellent wine.

We've been eating here for years and each time we come back the food quality gets a little worse. The staff is great and the venue is phenomenal so well probably come back again but its not for the food.

Such a lovely, old timey place. Very sweet and competent staff, a beautiful old inn, and well prepared, nicely presented, not too fussy food. The grounds are a little threadbare, perhaps a result of 2 years of pandemic related loss of business, but the place is situated close to the bay and has great big old trees and old fashioned pastimes like horseshoes and lounging in hammocks.

Food is delicious. Great service. Beautiful scenery. Ram’s Head never disappoints.
