Selfishly wary of giving this place too high a review, but it seems the public consensus beat me to it and democracy nailed it this time around. This place is the bomb dot com literally everything I got to try and enjoy here was phenomenal. And it's so accessible, nothing pretentious or priced past what quality seafood should be. Beer pitchers, low top tables, free smells in the air, and the sound of a loud kitchen and happy crowd. Heck yeah, it's a grand old time. I'd like to think I'll get to come here every time I make it back to DC, because the Good Lord knows it's a gamble eating seafood in large quantities in the Midwest.
Friday night. We had a reservation and were seated fairly quickly. Someone in our party was stung by a bee while we waited outdoors. Our server was GREAT. Some of the crabs were overcooked and over seasoned. Other entrees fine. Mac/cheese side was very oily. Crab soup lacked flavor. Onion rings and other sides were good. Overall it was a good vibe and ok food.
While visiting the DC area from out of state we found Quarterdeck online and made our way in for a first visit. Frankie was our server, he offered excellent service and provided a renewed tutorial on eating blue crab. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was amazing. So much so, we returned for a second feast two days later, requested Frankie and had a positive and enjoyable experience once again. Thank you Quarterdeck for a great time and bringing back my memories of MD crab feasts.
We went yesterday (Labor Day weekend) with my husband’s longtime friends who came down from New York for the weekend. The crabs were daggone delicious and so was the mac n cheese! Hot and flavorful. The drinks Blue Lemonade Tarzan need a bit more work: not as flavorful. Be sure to make a reservation if you go; will definitely return.
