Canyon Breeze - Shivwits

This was our first time at the Canyon Breeze Restaurant. It was Mother's day, and I found this restaurant had availability. I'm so glad we at there because it was in a really nice area. The Sunday Mother's Day brunch was out of this world. The staff were very accommodating. We will definitely be eating there again soon.

Canyon Breeze has a nice variety of options to choose from, however I found the food to be too bland. Perhaps they are cooking with low salt, but there are many other ways to bring in more flavor. Dessert options were very disappointing and even the ice cream with cookies left a lot to be desired. The chocolate chip cookies tasted like they were from the grocery store and the ice cream was not great. The highlight of the meal was the fresh dinner salad and the shrimp. Another note, the menu is the same every night and it would be nice to have variety!

Portions of meat are very small. Expensive for about 4 oz of bison tenderloin with no sides, and only the sauce on the meat. Everything is ala carte. Drink was very light and usually I can tell there is vodka; seemed more like lemonade for $14. No gluten free breads or crackers. Waitstaff were very nice and quick. Hostesses accommodating. Restaurant has a different feel than in the past. 15% service charge automatically added for a table of 2! Good thing I looked at the itemized description otherwise I would have given 20% on my tax, already added service charge, etc.

Sorry to say: The Korean chicken sandwich was like eating fried rope (so I didn't). The salmon was also tasteless, overcooked, and the sauce was unpleasant. The fresh fruit bowl was unripe and inedible. The staff was very sweet though! Kind of forced to eat here for several days but wouldn't have had I had a choice.

Our server, Cindy was kind but shared a whole new menu was sprung on her right when she walked in the door to work that day. The old menu was on opposite side and she constantly had to inform customers to “ignore” the other side. The room near windows smelled musty but the music was a very nice, low level. The chicken tacos were very tasty! I don't think we will eat here again unless we were a guest at the resort and had no other choice.
