The Powis Arms - Shrewsbury

The chef we encountered was new, as it was his first day, so there wasn't a structured menu available. Instead, he came to our table to explain the options and asked for our preferences, promising to cook whatever we chose. Each of the four of us ordered something different, and I must say, the dishes arrived simultaneously, hot and delicious—nothing to complain about at all. He even apologized for having to make my order of chips, which I wouldn't have chosen, but they turned out to be quite good. He mentioned that chips aren't his preferred option and that he sees them as a last resort, something he wouldn’t make a habit of in the future. The chef was very friendly and engaging, making our dining experience enjoyable. We hope he continues at the Powis Arms because he would be a great asset to the restaurant.

We received a last-minute reservation for New Year's and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The chef went out of his way to address my dietary requirements, which I greatly appreciated. The noise level was surprisingly low, especially considering it was New Year's Eve. Overall, we had a wonderful experience.

Pleasant lunch. Pub was quiet but staff were not very attentive. The menu was not the menu I had seen on line but the food was ok.

Fantastic roast Sunday lunch, plenty of meat veg. Brilliant
