We went with our 18-month old son and they had helpfully sorted the high chair and some little cutlery. The staff were friendly to all of us and very sweet with our son. We both had the roast beef which was excellent and they brought a few bits and some gravy for our boy so he shared some of ours, and he had some ice cream when we had dessert and at no charge. It just made us feel really welcome there. The roast beef was excellent and the veg perfectly cooked and tasty. We will definitely return.
Driven past this eatery many time and often said we should give it a try!! Well we called in for Sunday lunch on our way to Powys! Didn’t book but the friendly staff set up a table for us! And the food! Yum not disappointed Infact it was delicious and much more so than we expected! My husband had the tomato and wild garlic soup to start and I had the Goats cheese and pesto stuffed mushroom delicious! To follow we chose the beef and wow! What a great choice! It was absolutely delicious! No room for pud but we will definitely be returning
Peter and his team provide a warm and welcoming environment, with fabulous food and great service. We had to add to our booking at short notice and nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely Sunday lunch and we were really looked after. The Sunday lunches here are always the best which is why we always make a point to visit here if passing through as sadly we are not local. Highly recommend and can’t wait until our next visit!
Such a lovely family ran pub! Had a gorgeous evening meal by the fire, even returned the next day for some cake! Will definitely be coming back to Shropshire and back to The windmill for some more delicious food and stunning views. Thank you
As we have been before and had an excellent meal, we thought we would go again. Meal was ok wouldn't say brilliant. As advertise it said lamb and mint sauce which we had to ask for. Pork and apple sauce like before we had to ask for. Don't really cater for children other than the set Sunday roast menu. Not all children eat a roast dinner. So my son got himself upset because of this, every place we eat do cater for a wide range of choice of meals for a child first place not too. The Yorkshire pudding where frozen ones not homemade. The red cabbage that was under the meat we had to ask if it had onions in s my husband has a fodmap diet and can't eat onion the young waitress couldn't answer because the boss that cook it wasnt there today so nobody knew. My husband is also lactose intolerant so we asked for lactose free cream or ice cream but they don't have it according to the waitress that served us. I had a tradional sherry trifle there was no sherry in my trifle, it was more like bananas, cake and carton custard. I did eat it yes. But was left very disappointed. As a chef myself didn't impress me at all. I also thought all eateries had to ask about dietary requirements when showing us to the table. They certainly weren't on the menu or even offered
