The Farmhouse - Sierraville

We stopped for breakfast but missed it by 10 minutes. We were bummed but our coffee was good and the waitress was really understanding that we decided to leave.

Visiting Sierraville in July 2022, I never expected to discover amazing food there (being a very small town). I accidentally hit Farmhouse Cafe on July 4th, just looking for a beer and some nibbles. They were serving a special bbq dinner for the 4th of July. It was just amazing. On a scale of 1 to 10, everything was at least a 15. The baked beans and the strawberry shortcake were a 20. The service too; I left a 40% tip that day.Returning to Sierraville in June 2023, I desperately wanted to squeeze in a meal at the Farmhouse Cafe again. Was only able to make it in for lunch. I thought I was shortchanging myself by coming in for lunch instead of dinner. But I can't imagine anyone in California had a better lunch than me that day. For just $15 too! What I had was brisket sandwich. For the bread, I said chef's choice. Smart move. It came with an outstanding Texas toast, perfect texture. I will have to dig out photographs of that sandwich later (can't find them right now). The brisket was as thick as the Texas toast, and the whole sandwich was just incredible. Fries too. We ended with chef's choice for dessert, and that was outstanding too.I do plan to have at least one meal here every time I come back to Sierraville!

The food and service were amazing. The owner spoke with every patron in the restaurant both times I was there (in 1 week). I will be back as soon as I return to Sierraville.

We stopped here for breakfast on the way home to Reno after camping/hiking in the Sierra Buttes. I’m vegetarian, and we got incredibly generous service when the woman working made me a new breakfast sandwich without meat. Our coffees and pastries (apple fritter and cinnamon roll) were also very, very good. We even were able to buy a postcard of the mountains we had just hiked. Very cute spot.
