That's when I truly understood the meaning of "Grandmakase." The beef he served was outstanding, and the Otoro hand roll was a work of art. The uni avocado taco, which has a Western twist, was an absolute delight. The restaurant's location in the 3rd floor of the Valley Wing at Shangri La isn't the most ideal, especially since the Underdog restaurant has moved around. However, if you look beyond the surface and appreciate what the team has gone through, it becomes clear that this is a remarkable place. I would definitely consider returning for a third visit, but only for the special grandmakase prepared by the chef, without worrying about the cost.
The restaurant offers a lovely ambiance with stunning views and a spacious atmosphere. The staff is very attentive and accommodating to our requests. Overall, the food is good, although my steak, which I ordered medium, came out medium-well and a bit dry. The Udon Executive Set Lunch was delicious and reasonably priced at $35, while the $50 Steak Set did not impress me. We requested a modification for the Shokado Box Bento ($70) to exclude shells, but there was a misunderstanding, and it was prepared without raw items. As a result, it didn't reflect its usual presentation.
I requested an "omakase" experience from the chef, and it was fantastic! The flavors and presentation were excellent. I had a great time and will definitely return!
They are now moved in the state room, spacious, but really not much of a look. We had a pleasant Omakase meal with warm service from the team (esp Krystal, very attentive and thoughtful). However, I would be pleased to see some meat products among all fish/seafood equipment. Interesting articles were: fish jelly (with gold flakes), okinawa sea grapes and firefly squid. Will be revisited when they return to their original premises on the higher floor (hopefully soon)!
I have been to many Omakase restaurant. This one is newly opened for 1 year and located at Shangarila hotel. However, the value for the Omakase menu is way too high compare to many other when comparing the food served and quality. Came with 5 type sashimi, 6 types sushi , rice with Okura and Uni, soup , grilled cod fish , seasonal fruit and appetiser that’s typical other restaurant may serve but serve by piece and not by the whole plate. A bit pricey and the 240 per pax, you can get a better one in singapore . Service is ok with beautiful view at level 24 of the hotel. Many sake and whiskey to choose from. I would try their ala Carte menu the next time . Good for business and family . However, the counter Chef is not as professional impart to other you would find from other Japanese restaurant
