The food is very good. In relation to the price it is awesome. The three course menu is cool. The five course one is great! We celebrated the birthday of my brother and we got a nice birthday dessert on top of it. The people are nice. The bosses worth a visit.
I love this place! Gourmet (French) Cuisine with very friendly staffs. The Chef is great too. They do have events on regular basis like Truffle hunting or Hiking. The price is fair.
We went there to celebrate my parents' birthdays and I have to say I really enjoyed the food as it was of good quality and the flavors matched each other almost perfectly-well. Considering the quality (and the taste) of the food you cannot say a word about their prices as they are reasonable and fair. Why only 3/5?We were the first guests to arrive and the bathrooms were already (or still?) stained and partially dirty. The interior of the restaurant was cold and expressionless and made us feel like dining in a hospital cafeteria. Asking the waiters questions about the food, they couldn't answer and always had to double-check with the kitchen. One of the waitresses was wearing slippers creating the most annoying noises with them maundering through the restaurant.Apart from that the service was very nice and mostly friendly and I'd like to point out a blond waitress who always was attentive and friendly. Thank you!
This was a designation restaurant for me. Chef Jean-Marie Dumaine is brilliant. I knew of his liquor infusions from other bar tenders in Germany. We arrived for an early seating. The dining room is simple, beautifully lit and relaxing. Chef Dumaine's is very active in the dining room and a joy to talk with. Many of the herb and heirloom vegetables were from the restaurants garden. The truffles were along hunted by the chef and his certified truffle hunting dog. We lingered late into the evening enjoying the meal and talking with the chef. And stocked up on all kinds of gourmet goodies at their store.
We were on a Saturday evening , were warmly received and ordered the Menu d'automne. This is a 3 course menu at the very reasonable price of 35€. Considering also that we were offered some amuse bouche and a tasting pre-dessert as a courtesy, the price is not to be beaten thinking of the good ingredients and careful preparation. With the name of "Old Sinzig" one expects a decor more in the traditional style of an old Gasthaus, but the restaurant is decorated simple with modern paintings, giving its own flair and personality.Being Saturday evening, the restaurant was full and the tables were slowly served, probably the kitchen was overloaded and we, like the other customers, had long waiting periods between dishes. We arrived at 6pm and left 3 hours later. I personally think the correct timing plays a part in a successful meal. The wines were fine with the exception of a Corbiere that had a lot of deposits and in the taste it seemed to have turned. We informed the Sommelier staff but were told that it was an unfiltered bio wine, which to me it was an insult to the bio wine producers. In short I think the food and the friendliness makes it worth to visit again, but I would avoid a Saturday evening, ideally middays should be much more relaxed and timed experience.
