Feedback gevenI had No idea where this place was when our friends said they had booked a table for us one evening.Even when they said " it's near the fish market in Siolim " We had Never been down that road in day light never mind trying to find it at night. The Taxi found it and we all sat down in what I would say is an old Traditional Portuguese house with several tables spaced around 2-3 open plan rooms on the bottom floor. By all accounts there is a Air Conditioned room up stairs ??We started with cocktails which took an age to arrive because there was only the single blender. But when they arrived they were well worth the wait. When it came to ordering our food one of our friends said they often bring all courses out at the same time Starters & Main Course. So we ordered the Starters first and asked the waiter to come back later for the main course orders. After several more Kingfishers our starters arrived and they were far bigger than anyone had expected far more like a main course than a starterWhen ordering the main course I asked what the "chicken 65 " was No one including the waiter seemed to know why it was so called. Had it been named similarly to the "Heinz 57" brand back home ???? ( In several restaurants though out the holiday I spotted "chicken 65 " on menus any idea's anyone ??)It tasted ok but after the starters most of us were unable to clear our plates again this course. Is this restaurant worth traveling along way to use ?? I would not say it is. But saying that if it's between Us & our friends again we will be back next year
Another one of my favorite restaurants in Siolim. Its close to the port and the food is delicious. I love the prawns rawa fry and in general their local dishes, which can be quite spicy but then i like it like that. I am sure...the spiciness can be lesser if asked for.. definitely a must try :
Amancio has a nice ambience .... from outside looks like an old Goan bungalow ....the bar area , right at entry point is also attractive. They serve not just Goan , but all sorts of food. Chinese , Indian etc. Food was okay , nothing much to be said about it . If you are staying in Siolim area as we were, this was thevnearest dinner place on a rainy July evening .
We were in search of good hotel for dinner found out Amancio nearby. We entered and we all feel of bar. Ordered food, took some time. Taste was very delicious and we all liked very much.
For the second year Amancio's was chosen to be the meet point for a large group of friends from all over the surrounding area to meet up for an above standard meal. We did book which I would highly recommend because some people were being...turned away that just presumed there would be space for them. Across several floors and with numerous rooms and alcoves down by the old fish market in Siolim. They are Not overly keen on giving several bills to a large party of people so through out the night clientele were seen doing the math's on mobile phones. Service can be on the slow side because the bar keeper is often busy preparing cocktails and the likes. The food does have an habit of All coming at the same time i.e starters and mains. So we order one course at a time to reduce the strain on the table space. Good tasting food for Not a lot of Rupee's whats Not to like .Well worth a visit and somewhere we Will continue to use.
