Leaking urinals (and therefore smelly toilet), dirty menus, not enough wine menus for every table and food disappointing, especially the super thick honeycomb dome on the desert that I had to “hammer through”. Oh and white wine served too warm. Not priced suitably for the quality.
We've just had the most fantastic food at Heritage. Matt has upped his game again. Usually, there is one dodgy dish on a tasting menu. But not this one. Each dish improved on the last. The crab was delicious, then the prawn, which was then beaten by the Pidgeon, and still the dishes kept coming and culminated in the pea pudding... Such is a revelation. The wine/cocktail pairing was also so complimentary of the food. Well done to the whole team. Who had it bad today, with the power cut threatening to close the restaurant entirely! Thank you, thank you thank you. Boo Rob
Don't come here expecting to grab a quick bite and not book.. ..... The Heritage is a place to relax and savour every mouthful of food whilst being looked after by a really friendly team. The restaurant has a good balance of formal and relaxed....the service is attentive but not starchy and uncomfortable. The food is amazing.... We have lived here a long time and have been thankful that Matt and his team arrived and breathed life back into this previously boarded up building with an extraordinary amount of energy. They haven't excluded villagers from going into the bar and having a drink and we often do . It's good to see an eclectic mix of clientelle all there with a common aim...to enjoy a memorable and special dining experience in the beautiful surroundings of the village. Amused by an earlier rather sour review about twitching curtains in the village we feel compelled to say that the Heritage has brought a rather more considerate visitor that is careful not to block driveways and generally respect the pretty surroundings. We also know getting accidentally stuck up a road that turns into a bridleway can be stressful.....my husband has on occasions reversed the odd car down for a bewildered visitor because it can get a bit tight if there happens to be a wedding at the church. Just leave a little time for the whole dining experience......No one rushes you out of your seat and the table is yours for the evening. It is well worth coming .
Had the heritage menu, few dishes way too salty, few odd (not sure about the celeriac merengue and ice cream), monk fish was nice, steak a bit chewy. Had a nice night even though the food was not really to our liking, a bit of a shock when presented with a bill with a suggested 17.5% service charge which was very presumptuous! Certainly been to better restaurants for fine dining who charged less. Worth going for the experience but sad to say won’t be back
I visited with my family on Mothers Day, what an absolutely amazing place. Firstly i have to mention the greeting from the front of house was brilliant and continued throughout the whole of our visit. The food was outstanding, compliments to the Chef, the Cocktails a different level. We will 100% be booking again. Thanks to you all.
