I've been going to this restaurant since it used to be known as shumi. the quality of food has not changed since new owners have taken over! that eat disappointed never! if they love fresh sushi, ai sushi will not disappoint! always amazing!
Sushi was so good I was too busy eating it and forgot to photograph it. Next time! While it will not be necessarily easy to find this restaurant, it is tucked away inside a building, it is definittely worth doing as the food was terrific. Had edamame, gyoza, and seaweed salad to start. Had various sushi pieces for dinner. Very happy with the experience and the food was great. Nice selection of fish. Go check it out!
First off, Ai Sushi is NOT an Americanized sushi place. If you are looking for some California, Volcano or Fat Flying Pregnant Pig rolls, you won't find them there. What you will find is the best quality fish in the area prepared by very experienced chefs. The omakase (chef's choice) is always excellent. It is BYOB, so grab a good bottle of Saki and enjoy yourself!
Went there a few days ago and sat at the sushi bar for the omakase. The sushi and sashimi were all delicious. The chef was deft, incredibly polite, and very knowledgeable. We tried some Japanese aori ika (bigfin reef squid) that was incredible and apparently very hard to find. At the end, the chef humored me with an uni (sea urchin) maki and it was quite an experience. We were debating getting omakase in Philadelphia or NYC, but are glad we chose Ai sushi. Its omakase is top notch and the prices are much more comfortable than either big city.
I've visited many sushi restaurants in both the USA and Japan, and this place is truly outstanding. The omakase here is the best I've ever had.
